Ourselves
2006-10-26
We have in ourselves the will of greatness,
the strength to fight the battle, to hold
our beliefs high, to die for our beliefs.
Yet, we must not fear death,
for death is only an escape from the
harsh realities that are life.
The pain that I feel in this moment,
this is nothing compared to those,
who are suffering all over the world,
this pain that I feel, this darkness,
is nothing compared to the darkness
of those without light.
The vanities of life seem small,
but they are ever so great in comparison
to those who have nothing.
And our minds dwell on such things,
and we never seem to find joy.
Sometimes we just need to let go,
to confess to others our faults,
to spill our hearts before them,
and to pray for forgiveness, to hope.
To fix a house that was built wrong,
one must tear it all down,
to eliminate all wrong, before,
before one can move on, to live.
And we must live on, we must strive
for the strength and greatness that can be us.
